Ashley Judd is reflecting on the devastating day of his mother, Naomi Juddhe died.
the High Crimes The 54-year-old actress opened up about “the most devastating day of my life” in a heartbreaking essay for The New York Times, during which he shared that he found his mother in her last moments after taking her own life.
“My loving mother, Naomi Judd, who had come to believe that her mental illness would only get worse, never get better, killed herself that day,” Ashley wrote. “The trauma of discovering and then holding her body in labor haunts me at night.”
But instead of being able to be with her mother while she took her last breaths, Ashley said she was bombarded by local police with interviews that “felt obligatory and imposed.”
“I felt cornered and powerless as law enforcement officers began questioning me as the last of my mother’s life faded away,” she wrote. “I wanted to comfort her, telling her that she was about to see her dad and her little brother when she ‘she went home,’ as we say in Appalachia.”
