Emergency Alert TV outage shakes Los Angeles viewers – Deadline

A somewhat vague alert from the emergency broadcast system interrupted television viewing around 5:35 p.m. PT today, ordering an immediate mandatory evacuation for an odd assortment of unspecified locations.

Emergency evacuation orders were said to be in effect until 8 p.m. and Ventura County was mentioned. The information from authorities may be related to the Castaic wildfire that burned near the 5 Freeway north of Los Angeles in Ventura County, but the issuing authority did not specify. That fire shut down the busy 5 Freeway in both directions.

The Emergency Broadcast warning was brief on details for viewers and quickly scrolled through four screens, making it difficult to determine the specific warning.

Later in the evening, the Ventura County Sheriff issued a clarification.
