Fireflythe drama series starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke, has two seasons and is available on Netflix.
The series, from creator Maggie Friedman, returns for an oversized second season in December, but won’t return for a third season.
The show will have a second season of 16 episodes.
The first nine episodes will air on December 2, and the second seven-episode installment will premiere in 2023.
In the series based on Kristin Hannah’s novel, when unlikely duo Tully (Heigl) and Kate (Chalke) meet at age 14, they couldn’t be more different. Tully is the sassy and bold girl that you can’t ignore, while Kate is the shy and shy girl that you never notice. But when a tragedy unites them, they are united for life: best friends forever inseparable. Together they live 30 years of ups and downs, triumphs and disappointments, heartbreaks and joys and a love triangle that strains their friendship. One goes to fabulous wealth and fame, the other chooses marriage and motherhood, but through the decades, their bond remains, until she faces the ultimate test.
The series was created by Friedman, who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Heigl and Shawn Williamson are also executive producers, and Hannah is a co-executive producer.
