Lea Michele Cancels ‘Funny Girl’ Performances, Cites Covid-19 Symptoms – Deadline

Lea Michele is canceling some of her funny girl proceedings, citing early signs and symptoms of Covid-19.

The Broadway star just started out as Fanny Brice, the funny girl starring on September 6, replacing alternate Julie Benko, who had played the role since original star Beanie Feldstein left the production in July. The show also stars Tovah Feldshuh as Mrs. Brice, along with existing stars Ramin Karimloo and Tony nominee Jared Grimes.

Michele announced her cancellation on Instagram Live earlier today. She said that she would miss the afternoon and evening performances of the day at the August Wilson Theater in New York.

“I am devastated to say that due to early signs and symptoms of Covid and an inconclusive test result, due to production safety protocols, I am unable to perform today’s shows,” Michele wrote in her post. instagram story.

“I will be testing again and will know more about tomorrow’s performance soon,” he added. “Julie is going to succeed today as Fanny, as are all of our amazing understudies who have taken such an incredible step forward this week as we battle a very intense COVID outbreak in our theater.”
