Marrying Nikki Bella changed our relationship

Little more than a week later, the twins talked about the wedding in an episode of his podcast. “Using the word husband, I say, ‘Oh my God. Yes. He is my husband,’” the former professional wrestler confessed while speaking with Brie, 38. “Artem literally gets so red and shy and blushes when I call him [my] husband or talk about her ring. He is so cute.”

Nikki and Chigvintsev originally met when they were partners on season 25 of dancing with the stars in 2017. They began dating in January 2019 and announced their engagement the following year. The couple welcomed their son Matteo in May 2020.

In the year leading up to the wedding, the duo faced their fair share of challenges, including having to navigate a long-distance relationship as Chigvintsev competed on the dance competition’s 30th season in 2021.

“This is the longest time we haven’t seen each other. We stayed six or seven weeks [apart]Nikki said during an episode of “The Bellas Podcast” in November 2021. “I have AGT: Extreme … [and] Artem and I argue, Teo goes everywhere with mom. That’s where he feels comfortable, that’s where he does it best. And, you know, it’s been hard for [Artem] and it has also been hard for me not to have my man in my bed.

The California native added that being “raised in different” countries also made it difficult for them to communicate while apart. “When they are far away from each other, there are different time zones. Me having Matteo and working long hours, I need Artem to register, ”he explained at the time. “Sometimes I feel that the other person, mainly the parents, get into this [space of thinking] they did FaceTime and that’s great, and they get on the phone and that’s where it all ends for them. And it’s hard when the involvement beyond that isn’t there.”

However, with the help of counseling and “sexy facetimes”, Nikki and the Russian native were able to overcome their losing streak. “We are actually in a good place. We were getting a little rocky for a while… [But] Now we are stronger than ever.”
