Royal family posed for portrait before funeral

A new chapter. King Charles III, Queen consort Camilla, prince william Y princess kate debuted a new royal portrait on Saturday, October 1.

This is the second portrait to be published since the queen’s death. King Charles, 73, revealed the first official photograph of him following his national address on September 9, a day after the royal matriarch passed away.

In the snap, the former Prince of Wales sits at a desk in the Blue Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace with a framed photo of his late mother to his left. The portrait was specifically released in coordination with his first speech as king.

“Today I speak to you with feelings of deep pain”, then the sovereign began his speech. “Throughout her life, Her Majesty the Queen, my beloved mother, was an inspiration and example to me and my entire family, and we owe her the deepest debt a family can owe to her mother. ; for her love, her affection, her guidance, understanding and example.”

As of Wednesday, September 28, the website includes the biographies of the Duke and Duchess on the bottom page, just above Prince Andrew – who was moved to the bottom of the list.

The change came amid several updates to the website following the queen’s death. In addition to removing Elizabeth from the lineup of living royalty, the official site also changed the titles and the order in which members of the family appear.

Before the sovereign died, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, were listed as the queen’s first cousins. Now, however, the royal matriarch’s other cousins ​​now rank above the 62-year-old Duke of York and the Sussexes.

Harry and Meghan stepped down from their duties as senior royals in 2020 and moved to the US. Prince Andrew, for his part, was stripped of his HRH status amid a lawsuit from Virginia Guffrewho accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor, but he continued to maintain his innocence.

Despite their very different circumstances, Elizabeth’s second son and the Invictus Games founder have been treated similarly with regard to royal protocol, with neither being able to wear their military uniform at the queen’s state funeral on 19 of September.

However, Andrew was always granted an exception to wear his uniform with his brothers at a vigil on September 16. Harry broached the subject through his spokesperson.

“[Prince Harry] he will wear a tuxedo during events in honor of his grandmother. Her decade of military service is not determined by the uniform she wears and we respectfully ask that the focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” read a statement on September 13.
