Samsung, the leading smart TV maker, has unveiled a new version of its TV Plus streaming offering.
The ad-supported free TV service has reach in 24 countries and 465 million devices worldwide across TV and mobile, the company said.
Samsung TV Plus was one of the first to move into the FAST space, launching in 2015. It offers 220 channels in the US and more than 1,600 channels worldwide, including more than 50 owned and operated channels in news, sports, entertainment and other genres.
FAST channels and smart TV apps have seen significant growth in recent years as traditional pay TV subscriptions decline at a rapid rate.
In the past 12 months, Samsung TV Plus has seen 100% growth in consumer viewing, the company said, with nearly 3 billion hours streamed worldwide.
The renewed offer will be free on all Samsung Smart TVs and Galaxy devices manufactured between 2016 and 2022. It has also been extended to the company’s Family Hub refrigerators in the US and Korea.
