Shia LaBeouf Converted To Catholicism After Battling Suicidal Ideation

He also confirmed that although he originally came to the monastery only to help with his role, he feels his conversion to Catholicism was meant to be. “I know that now God was using my ego to draw me to Him, he was turning me away from worldly desires,” the former child star noted. “Everything was happening simultaneously. But he wouldn’t have had any drive to get in the car and drive if I hadn’t thought, ‘Oh, I’m going to save my career.’”

He added: “And when I got here, a change happened. It was like Three-Card Monte. It was like someone had tricked me into doing it, it felt. Not in a bad way. In a way that I couldn’t see it. She was so close to him that she couldn’t see him. I see it differently now that time has passed.”
