The producers of the hit Broadway musical the music man will end the show’s successful run on January 1, 2023, when star Hugh Jackman exits after a year as Professor Harold Hill.
“I am delighted that Hugh and Sutton [Foster] will continue to create their unique magic on stage through the end of 2022 so that we can properly close out what has been a triumphant year for our entire industry,” said Kate Horton, who produced alongside Barry Diller and David Geffen.

At closing, the revival of the Meredith Wilson musical, directed by Jerry Zaks, It will have performed 358 regular functions and 46 previous ones.
Jackman has missed a few recent performances, having attended film festivals in Venice and Toronto to promote Florian Zeller’s film. The sonwhich has garnered good reviews for Jackman’s performance.
