It wasn’t a long weekend for The Weeknd on Saturday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The artist stopped his sold-out show during the third song of his set, and abruptly left the stage.
He came back and told the audience that he had lost his voice and apologized for having to cancel. Many in the crowd reacted negatively to the news, with some remaining seated even as the house lights were turned on.
The Weeknd was in the middle of his song “Can’t Feel My Face” when he decided not to continue.
“I’ll make sure everyone is okay, they’ll get their money back,” he rasped to the audience. “But I will do a show very soon for you.”
The Weeknd said he wanted to apologize in person, rather than through social media. “I can’t give you what I want to give you,” he said.
