EXCLUSIVE: Canadian filmmaker Chandler Levack has signed with WME.
Levack’s Video Store Comedy-Drama i like movieswhich is the first film he has written and directed, will premiere as part of the Discovery program at TIFF 2022. Sales are handled by Visit Films.
The film follows a socially inept 17-year-old movie buff, Lawrence Kweller, who gets a job at a video store where he strikes up a complicated friendship with his older female manager.
According to Levack, the film is an “insane love letter” to her teenage years in Burlington, Ontario, where she fell in love with film while working as a part-time employee at Blockbuster Video from 2002 to 2004 during her last two years of discharge. school.
Levack has directed multiple music videos, earning two Juno nominations, and is a journalist and critic for publications including The balloon and the mail, Maisonneuve Y TURN Magazine. His 2017 short film We forgot to break premiered at TIFF and SXSW.

Levack grew up in Burlington, Ontario, and lives in Toronto, where he studied film at the University of Toronto and screenwriting at the Canadian Film Centre.
