Twitter Users Share Real Life Stories That Sound More Like Movie Plots

A viral tweet has people recounting real-life experiences that sound like a Hollywood blockbuster synopsis! One user, @AMythicWitch, challenged people on Twitter to “Tell us a true story of your life that sounds made up” August 29th.

As a result, hundreds of people submitted stories. In fact, for the moment RRT posted this story, users had left more than 4,000 comments and tweeted the post more than 16,000 times.

@AMythicWitch previously asked his followers the same question in December 2021 and May. But here are six stories that were highlighted in the August Twitter thread.

A killer who gives warnings

Twitter user @sivbreak had luck, faith, or just familiarity on his side when he ran into a killer who spared him with a warning.

“First time out after 8pm ran into my friend’s grandpa on the way home,” @sivbreak tweeted. “He warned me about going out late, saying that people are being killed there. I woke up the next morning to the news that he had been arrested for murder.”

@sivbreak didn’t offer any additional details, such as names or dates, but teased other information in a separate tweet. He wrote, “The motive behind the murder was even more savage, but it’s none of my business.”

A reincarnated grandfather? Maybe.

Meanwhile, Twitter user @_decentphil had a softer yet tragic story involving his grandfather. @_decentphil told about his younger brother whose birth echoed the death of grandpa.

“Grandpa said that he would come back to life only after his mother was late. He died years ago (4 pm, January 15) from a bicycle accident that left a scar on the left side of his head. My youngest brother was born years late at 4pm on January 15th with the exact same scar in the exact same spot,” @_decentphil tweeted.

For the curious, @_decentphil shared a flashback photo of his brother. And in another reply to a comment, @_decentphil said that his brother “He has been wise since birth, he talks and acts old.”

A New York love story from birth

Unlike most stories, user Emily C. Singer (@CahnEmily) shared one centered on love. In truth, the story is a romantic comedy waiting to happen. Someone call Rachel McAdams!

“My husband and I lived in the same Manhattan apartment building as babies, two floors apart, but our parents never met and were not friends,” Emily tweeted. “My husband and I finally met 23 years later at a New Year’s Eve party.”

A thief looking for two futures

Twitter user @fabianthafirst_ shared a story about being the victim of a robbery. But the thief made a partial return instead of taking the user for everything he had. The intentions of the thief? Looking for the future of both.

“The man who robbed me at gunpoint said he was doing me a favor by taking my phone and returning my SIM cards because he felt I looked like someone with a bright future,” @fabianthafirst_ tweeted. “and that he hopes to meet me in the future and remind me of his ‘favor’ so that I can help him in life.”

Group dinner with blood on the hands

Twitter user @DPMCanty enjoyed a cozy dinner with her best friend and a man. Later, she learned that the experience was more of an alibi for the married killer.

“A man used dinner with me and my best friend as an alibi for a murder he committed,” @DPMCanty wrote. “To be clear, he brutally killed a woman, then came over and had a cozy dinner with us. I found out about the murder AND his wife, children in another state when the detectives arrived.”

@DPMCanty shared additional story details and links to prove his story is not tall. The “quiet clean man”, described by @DPM Canty, is named Blaine Norris. Blaine Randi Trimble strangled with an extension cord and stabbed her 27 times in her garage on January 10, 2003, for NBC News.

Blaine’s friend Brian Trimble had agreed to pay Blaine $20,000 for the murder, roughly the amount Blaine owed in debt for shooting an independent horror film. Blaine later confessed to the crime and prosecutors sentenced him to life in prison without parole in a plea deal.

To catch a pedophile… Rob a house

Last but not least is the story of Matthew Hahn (@hagnscratch). Unlike previous tales, Matthew started out as a criminal in his life, only to discover another crime during the robbery.

“Once I broke into a house and stole a safe. I opened the safe and discovered photos of the owner sexually abusing a child,” Matthew wrote. “He reported the robbery to the police. I handed over the photos. The police called him to discuss the robbery. He confessed. We both went to prison.”

Matthew was sentenced to 14 years in the United States, while the child molester received 30 years. He has told the story several times over the years.
