Vince Staples Lands His Own Scripted Comedy Series On Netflix With Kenya Barris Executive Producer

Netflix continues to be part of the green light gang and rapper Vince Staples is the latest person to benefit. It’s just been announced that Vince Staples has landed his own scripted comedy series, and ‘Black-ish’ creator Kenya Barris is coming along to help.

@Deadline reports, Vince Staples is ready to show off his comedic chops in front of the camera courtesy of streaming giant Netflix, as has been confirmed that ‘The Vince Staples Show’ is on its way. The semi-autobiographical series is loosely based on Vince’s life, with him serving as creator, co-executive producer and star. The upcoming series is Kenya Barris’ latest project under her multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.

Speaking about stepping into the shoes as a lead on his own show, Vince expressed his excitement. “I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on ‘The Vince Staples Show.’ This has been something I’ve been developing for some time and I’m happy it’s coming to fruition,” he said.

Similarly, Netflix head of comedy Tracy Pakosta also shared how the company looks forward to the project. “Our mission is to work with the best artists in the world. Vince has already established himself as one of the most talented young musicians working today and we are very excited how his sensitivity and sense of humor will translate into a unique comedy series.”
